About

Culture. Food. Accommodation.

St. John’s Institute is the cornerstone of an amazing living experience. SJI is a non-profit co-educational affordable residence that offers comfortable living facilities in a Ukrainian Orthodox environment.

SJI is also a site for some of Edmonton’s best arts and culture events, and offers event room / meeting space rentals at a reasonable price. Whether you’re a non-profit organization, an arts and culture group, an Edmonton-based business, a Ukrainian organization, or just looking for a space to rent, SJI can accommodate you!

Mission

SJI fosters a stronger Ukrainian heritage and Canadian community by producing educational, spiritual, cultural, and outreach programs for youth and community members. We support the community by providing excellent affordable housing close to campus and downtown, and by helping to promote the city’s arts and cultural scene.

Many thanks and credit go to Theodora Harasymiw, the artist responsible for creating the beautiful hand-crafted mosaic found in SJI’s Krawford Courtyard. You can find more information on Theodora’s work here.
