Absolutely not. We encourage all students interested in studying Ukrainian to experience our one-of-a-kind program.

Do I have to register for both parts of the program?
No. The trip to Ukraine is optional- although highly recommended. However, if you wish to travel to Ukraine you must enrol in the Edmonton program. (We are not able to accommodate those wanting to travel only to Ukraine.)

Is there a registration deadline? How many students can enrol?
It is important to get your registration in early as space is limited for both the Edmonton and Ukraine portions of the program. Enrolment will be capped at 40 students for the Edmonton program and 20 students for the trip to Ukraine. Be sure to see our deadlines.

What do you do at OSVITA?
The program is divided into two sections: Edmonton and Ukraine. During the Edmonton portion students study Ukrainian 10, 20 or 30 (grades 10-12), Monday through Friday, during the day. Evenings and weekends are full of fun Ukrainian cultural activities.

The trip to Ukraine is truly an amazing experience. Our educational trip is designed to complement what the students learn while in Edmonton.

What if I'm not from Alberta, do I still get credits?
Yes. The courses are recognized by Alberta Learning as well as other Provincial Education Ministries.

I've heard about other Immersion Camps and Travel to Ukraine opportunities, why should I choose OSVITA?
OSVITA is unique from other summer opportunities because it is specially designed to incorporate language immersion, culture, and travel into one holistic program. Our goal is to introduce and foster a love for all things Ukrainian in an Orthodox setting.

Small class sizes, exceptional staff, and a commitment to the immersion program make Osvita the premiere program in Canada.

Are there any scholarships available? What about individual fundraising?
Various scholarships are available. Often our students will do individual fundraising to help raise funds to cover part or all of their tuition. Students will approach their churches, local men's and women's associations, service clubs in their community, business owners, and family and friends. By writing letters to these groups and individuals you can explain the benefits that you will receive by attending the OSVITA program and ask if they would be willing to support your application for this summer's program.

Why Osvita?
The importance of knowing Ukrainian is becoming more evident as an independent Ukraine redevelops politically, economically, and socially. The demand for fluent Ukrainian speakers and people familiar with Ukrainian culture is growing in all fields. Osvita offers its participants a great advantage!

Aside from this, Osvita offers Canadian youth the opportunity to learn an ancestral language which has been in use in Canada for over a century.
