St. John’s Institute was excited to have Toy Guns’ Gala celebrate their 1 year success at the Living Gallery and First Floor Gallery of the facility. We would like to thank them for choosing SJI as the venue for their event, and say that it was our pleasure to have them here!
Here is a small description of the event, written by the Executive Director of Toy Guns Dance Theatre, Richelle Thoreson:
“The evening began with some socializing and beverages at 8pm when the guests arrived. Each person was given a small toy – a magnetic letter, a dinosaur, an army man, or a poker chip – and was told to swap with someone they had never met before as a fun way to mingle.
Jake Hastey, artistic director and MC for the evening, started us off with 4 short videos that Toy Guns had created including an award winning film, We (Oui), intermixed with 4 short dances performed by Toy Guns dancers. There was also a room full of artists that created a piece of work to be raffled off at the gala. Others items included in the raffle were things from The Helm, Marc Philip Hair, The Underground Tap & Grill, Kunitz Shoes, and more! The evening was complimented by wonderful food prepared by St. John’s Institute and a birthday cake in celebration of Toy Guns Dance Theatre’s first year. Overall, it was a pleasant evening!”
