On Sunday, May 25, SJI hosted 135 of Alberta’s Girl Guides and unit leaders as they welcomed their National Chief Commissioner for Girl Guides Canada. The event was a conclusion to the Girl Guides Alberta Council’s AGM. The girls were treated to a “carnival” of face painting, a fun photo booth, a bean-bag toss, balloon animals, an indoor “bonfire”, sing-along, nail painting, carnival games, and much more!
Thanks to Cheryl Skorobohach for recommending SJI as the host venue for the event, Beverly Simpson Headon for the follow-up and organization, and Beverly Wilson for seeing all the arrangements through. Our appreciation to new SJI chef (and Intercontinental Red Seal chef) Salvatore Zaccaro, for his sumptuous deluxe fresh cheese cakes (peanut butter; strawberry), cheese and fruit platters, and a variety of other delectable goodies. Special thanks to SJI staff Nadija Szram, Christina Kowalenko, Serhij and Nadia Stoiianov, Ann Larsen, and Rachelle Champagne for event set-up and take-down, and for making our guests welcome in our “home.”
SJI looks forward to more opportunities to be of service to such fantastically productive organizations that teach our youth to believe in themselves and be strong contributors to their communities!
